For every pain, there is a purpose Despite our choices in life, God is always working something out *              *              * Pain sometimes comes as a result of bad choices Other times, it comes to teach us something There are also times it comes as a result of design; As part of the piece of a puzzle For us not to question pain or be too hard on ourselves or ask where we went wrong, We need insight, foresight or maybe just sight To be able to see all the pictures (the bigger picture and the picture right before your eyes) In all, what keeps us going is faith; Strong belief in the faithfulness of God and his inability to disappoint us or abandon ship On him knowing what’s best and working everything out for our good Isaiah 49:15 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee Happy Sunday Love, Deedee XOXO

GOING SOMEWHERE? A GUIDE TO DESCRIPTION

Have you ever wanted to visit somewhere new but had cold feet because of the stress that comes with understanding descriptions? Or you’ve always wanted someone to visit yours but your neighborhood doesn’t have an address? You have to now start saying, “the second left turn after the red gate, you’ll see a woman selling akara , enter the small foot path before the woman’s akara stand, walk down until you see a left turn, don’t follow that turn oh, keep walking until you see a right turn, after the right turn, there is a black gate, then after….” Your friend hangs up the call and you get a text “sorry, I’ll visit some other day”. Or home delivery is always a case for you?   Hello guys, Let’s talk about descriptions today I can boldly beat my chest and say that everyone has at least once been in a situation where they have had to get somewhere and had difficulties locating the place because of faulty description. Thank God for goggle map now but I still believe it’s not accur

PERKS ON LIVING ALONE 2

Now that you must have gathered the akpobi (courage) to live alone, how can you make the best of it? Make rules. You know how frustrating it was to live by other people’s rules? Now I’m here telling you to make rules. I must be a killjoy right? But here’s the thing about rules. Rules are made not out of spite for the ruled or because some people are just control freaks, rules are made for the sake of order, to avoid chaos. So, make your own rules. Make them so that you don’t run wild and ruin your life and abuse your newly acquired freedom. These rules will emanate from your core values. This means you have to ask yourself serious questions Do some soul searching What are my core values? What is the kind of life I would like to lead/live? What is of importance to me? What are my boundaries?   When you get those answers, you can use them as a guide to setting ground rules for your house/self For someone like me that dislikes night hangouts, is introverte

PERKS OF LIVING ALONE 1

Hello guys Welcome to my first controversial read This topic is really close to my heart. Hence I decided to share it with you, my people Here it goes… The typical Nigerian way is for a child to grow up in his or her parent’s house and remain there until he or she happens to get married or move to another city for a job in spite of the child’s age. This is like an unwritten rule in the average Nigerian parent’s book. However this rule is lenient when it comes to the male child. He has some sort of points that can excuse him from this rule such as; “He’s a man” “He needs to start building his family” “He can’t get married in my parent’s house” Etc But, for the woman, it is unheard of. In fact, it is an abomination for her to leave her father’s house to her own house. “Why should she want to live alone?” “She is promiscuous to want that”. “Is she a prostitute?” “Does she want men to run away from her?” “There is no respect when a woman doesn’t marry from h

NOT TOO YOUNG TO RUN

Kudos to all the young people that attempted running for one office or the other and   Kudos to the few that won and the many we don’t even know contested Opinions flying around were; They should have started from the grassroots They should have done more sensitization outside social media as the bulk of Nigerian voters don’t have access to social media They should have not gone the “aspire to acquire your desire” route but shared souvenirs to the bulk of their intended customers This is my opinion;   You see this not too young to run thing It starts from the typical Nigerian home Yes, the smallest but most significant unit of the society The typical Nigerian father is not ready to give up his business to his 30 or 20 something year old to run The typical 20 something year old is still collecting food from his mother and roof from his father The typical Nigerian parents are not comfortable with or do not trust their children’s decisions at that age. The ty

Yesterday the moon and I stayed up late together as usual But this time I was closer to her It was like our first date after so many years The last time I could remember was childhood Tales by actual moonlight My dad had gone on a trip My mom had gone to heaven It was just me, my brother and uncle Boro He would tells us tortoise stories some days Other days he would tell us about the Boro revolutionary days Last night I came out with my silk night wear and my phone Although my initial intent was to force myself to sleep while watching her from my window But the mosquitoes in my room won't let me be So I fleet the room again and came out to be with her Because she seemed lonely It wasn't like the other days where people were talking to her and she wasn't talking back She seemed really quiet Although her shine was really bright She seemed like the lady in red, all dressed up at the bar with the intent of enjoying the night alone So I came out, all dre

ONCE UPON AN ACORN

Imagine how someone wakes up to a flying idea Infinitesimal and catches it and just decides to pursue it believe in it and make something out of it. He then builds his world around it every other breath spent chasing it time, money, life and other resources lost in pursuit. He even gets the world to believe in it and join the chase. Then he wakes up another day to its infinity. The acorn has now become an oak tree. Isn’t it amazing? That “someone” is the hero. That “someone” is the brave one It could have been any seed but it’s the same soil and water and sunlight and air You can be that “someone” today * * * A little sleep, a little slumber…………and you wake up poor A little yeast makes the whole dough to rise Little drops of water make an ocean A step begins the journey of a thousand miles Baby steps make giant strides You see the thing about little? It either makes or mares you What little are you doing? Just a little lie? Just a

WAS IT INTENTIONAL?

Image
Intentional: deliberate, voluntary, done with intent (purpose) I’ll write you two stories if time permits and then we will discuss STORY1 Once upon a time, there lived a poor orphan girl who stayed with her uncle in a foreign land. She lived a pretty humble and obedient life even in the midst of want. She had no definite plans for her future asides the normal everyday life of wake up, do chores and go to bed. She didn’t even have friends and everything was fine with her. But her uncle on the other hand wanted better for her. Maybe because of the bond he shared with her late parents. He wanted to see her shine in the nearest future and would do anything to make that happen. Then time and chance happened. The wicked king divorced and banished his wife just because she wouldn’t agree to dance for him and his drunken friends. The king was a drunk and foolish man. This I say because he always took wrong advice from his loser friends and ran with it to the end no matter how disas

CLICK CLIQUES OR SOLO

The thing about cliques If there’s one thing reading Trevor Noah’s Born ‘A Crime’ taught me, it is the fact that everyone has an innate desire to belong to something, a group, a sect, or let’s just say a clique. Everyone one wants to belong, whether or not they are willing to accept it. The good thing is that nature has naturally created a solution to that need to belong by establishing cliques. Now, this is how cliques are basically supposed to function even if they seldom do. Cliques are supposed to be formed naturally by a group of people coexisting in the same place, who find themselves liking the same extracurricular activities, and having similar likes, hobbies, views and values or just have a common goal. But, this isn’t the case most of the time. Cliques are now mostly perceived as some sort of social upper class group where standards are set for intending members to meet whether or not they resonate with them. And these cliques create some sort of you-no-follow
