The journey to ........
On your journey to forever and always
You'll meet not just the good, the bad and the ugly
You'll also meet the entitled, the unstable and the self-absorbed
A writer once said that you have to kiss a handful of frogs before you eventually meet your prince
This saying, I truly can attest to
The good want you to be good, not you
They want you to change to their perception of what good should be
They want you all prim and proper
The bad want you to be bad, not you
They want you to change to their perception of what bad should be
They want you bad and boujee
The ugly want you to be as ugly as they are
Do things you don't resonate with
They want to break you to nonsense
The entitled feel they now own you
They lay claim to your every action
They require of you, what you don't even have to give
The unstable don't know what they want
They're all loved up today, throwing tantrums tomorrow, and want a break next tomorrow
Please don't try to fix them, kindly move on
The self-absorbed are too busy basking in the euphoria of their amazingness
They think of nothing but themselves and want you to do the same
Everything is about them. They world too should revolve around them
The list goes on and we all at some point in our lives have been those people but we found ourselves, we moved on, we regretted our actions, we changed for better, before we truly experienced love
But why do we have to go through so many thorns just to get the rose
I think it's so we'll appreciate what we got and guard it jealously
So we will understand why it never worked out with others
Why we were never good enough
Why loving was so tough
Why it seemed like love was the opposite of its true meaning
We have to be careful though
Careful not to settle
Because the clock is ticking
Because the process is draining
Because every other person but you is moving on
Those who have settled will tell you
Marriage is hard, love is wicked
Divorce is an option, one is better than two
Yen yen yen
But those who walked the long mile will tell you
Don't worry, there's no rush
When he/she comes you'll just know
Every other person will seem wrong
Love is beautiful. Marriage is sweet
Two heads are better than one
I, though haven't met my prince, still on that rocky paths will tell you
Just be yourself. Don't hide your flaws. Don't burn all your trousers
Don't join the prayer band. Don't relocate. Or join that dating site
Don't go to weddings just to meet a potential boo
I will tell you. Be yourself. Laugh out loud. Cry out louder.
Do whatever you can to improve yourself.
Travel alone to see new places and experience new cultures
Go on vacations. Treat yourself every other day.
Improve on that skill. Be a badass at your job.
Only in this process will love find you and love you just the way you are;
with the tantrums and the string points
Then some years later, you'll be happy you waited
and you'll preach this same gospel
Beautiful one gal... I love this!
